SURGISPON® is a sterile absorbable gelatin sponge with haemostatic effect suitable for the control of bleeding.
SURGISPON® is manufactured from highly purified neutral gelatin foam of uniform fine porosity which guarantees a favourable homeostasis. Gelatin sponge activates the thrombocytes at the moment blood comes in contact with the matrix of the sponge. It causes thrombocytes to release a series of substances which promote their aggregation at the same time as their surfaces change character, and enabling them to act as a catalyst for the formation of fibrin.
SURGISPON® provides haemostasis in surgical procedures to control capillary, venous and small arterial bleeding when binding, suturing or other conventional methods of control are impractical or ineffective.
SURGISPON® can be applied dry or moistened with sterile physiological saline.
SURGISPON® is pressed against the bleeding site and within a short time it adheres to the wound and control the bleeding. It is recommended to remove any excess SURGISPON® material from the operative field.

SURGISPON NASAL/DERMAL CARE a sterile resorbable gelatin sponge, is a clinically proven CE certified product used for treatment of mild to moderate nosebleeds and dermal wound care. These types of persistent nasal and dermal bleeding resulting from injuries, accidents, allergies etc. can lead to excessive blood loss, causing health complications. 

 

SURGISPON NASAL/DERMAL CARE microporous structure allows the activation of coagulation. The sponge is characterized by a strong ability to absorb blood and exudate. It has a neutral pH and has good tissue tolerance. 

It must remain in place until the bleeding stops and unravels in 2 to 3 days. At the touch of a seeping wound, it forms a gel, which protects the wound and a renewal of the bandage without pain and respecting the epithelium (superficial layer of the skin).
